Empowering Disciples on Urban Campuses
Poema is an urban-native campus disciple making ministry based in the city of Chicago with the calling of expanding the work and witness of Jesus in the world by fostering campus movements in which students encounter the gospel in community, experience holistic transformation, and are empowered for just and fruitful lives.
POEMA (pō-EM-ə)
That which has been made; workmanship; a creation!
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship (poema), created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
EPH 2:8-10
A Whole New
Approach to Ministry
Poema fosters campus Gospel movements through a commitment to partnership: partnerships with student leaders, churches and para-church ministries, as well as community leaders and like-minded volunteers. We also seek to be purposeful in our mission, working collaboratively within the diverse array of kingdom work happening on campuses. These are the four ways we pursue this:
Community Building
Planting new communities on under-served urban campuses.
Co-Creation
Working together with Gospel stakeholders to grow new campus movements.
Collaboration
Partnering with like minded laborers within the body
toward these values.
Co-Learning
Pursuing avenues in which urban ministry practitioners might learn together.
